35-Before-35

Well, I kind of hit the wall on my 30-Before-30 list. Overall, I did a pretty good job and checked off a bunch of things but there were also quite a few that I just didn't get to. And now I'm 31 (when did that happen??). Instead of feeling like a failure, I think it's a more positive spin to just add a few things and make it a 35-Before-35 list instead!

Foodie Things
1. Attempt a jelly roll.
2. Make jam. (CHECK! Made my first batch of "Lemony" Strawberry Jam on 6/16/13 and quickly followed with batch #2 of Rhubarb Jam with Strawberries and Oranges on 6/17/13)
3. Make dumplings.
4. Join a CSA.
5. Try home-brewing. Or wine-making. Or both.
6. Start an herb and vegetable garden (i.e. not just out of containers).
7. Pickle something.

Mental Health / Fitness
8. Exercise for at least 15 minutes four times a week.
9. Try meditation.
10. Take a yoga class once a week (podcast yoga is okay too).
11. Try Cross Country Skiing.

Downtime, or The Sweeter Things in Life
14. Visit the Finger Lakes and do a wine tour. The last time I was in this area, I was 20 and offered grape juice.
15. Go to Niagara Falls with P. I visited in 2002 with my parents, but P has never been!
16. Take in some local history.
17. See a movie at the Drive-In.
18. Send 1 personal email or e-card to a friend each month. <--This is a holdover from the last list. I *love* this but I was not good at it and I want to try again.
19. Cuddle the boys at least once every day.
The Gus.
The Pippin.
20. Start singing again. I MISS this so much! I'd love to find even a half-hour each week to reconnect with my voice.
21. Get back to writing creatively. By the end of every week, I'd like to produce at least one page of writing -- poetry, nonfiction, play, novel, journaling, etc. The only stipulation is that this can't be scholarly writing!
22. Learn more than two songs on the bodhran and the ukulele.
23. Make time for one non-work related activity every weekend.

School
24. Submit at least two papers to a journal.
25. Submit to a conference once a year. (CHECK for 2013.)
26. Attend a conference once a year. (I reserve the right to amend this because conferences are often far away and expensive.)
27. Pass my comps.
28. Write the damn dissertation.

Theatre
29. Rekindle that spark of joy. Where did that go?
30. ADK Shakespeare is nearly halfway through producing the entire Shakespearean canon. So, why not aim for 3/4 by 2017?
31. See at least one play every season. Four plays a year should *not* be that hard, right?
32. Read all of Shakespeare's plays. (I know, I'm ashamed to confess it. But there's still a few, and it's time to fix that!)
33. Produce an early modern title that's not by Shakespeare.
34. Take risks. Accept failure. Accept success. Accept that success can be built upon mistakes, and that true success must be.
35. Play a role for which I feel completely unready (I don't mean unprepared. I mean mentally unready. Like Lear. Except, NOT Lear.)
